The aim of checkyourballs is to raise awareness in Testicular Cancer through education.
Testicular Cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15-35 with over 1500 cases per year. If it is detected early enough there is a 99% cure rate.
It only takes 2 minutes a month to carry out a self examination.
My case would have been so much different if I had know about Testicular Cancer let alone what to look for. If we can start to educate young men at school about the signs of Testicular Cancer, then the signs will be detected early and they will know what to look for.
Our main aim is to have a DVD produced made by students at a school in Birmingham aimed at school children their own age. This DVD will then be distributed to schools initially in the Birmingham and West Midlands area as a pilot and then hopefully further a field.
Obviously the DVDs are cheaper to reproduce than videos were but they still need to be paid for.
